The Farmer’s Daughter is a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program rooted in family tradition and designed to connect Halifax and surrounding area families with fresh, seasonal food grown on a local Nova Scotia farm.
Our CSA is built on a simple idea: members support the farm at the start of the season, and in return receive a weekly share of the harvest throughout the growing season.
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. When you join a CSA, you become a member of the farm.
Instead of purchasing produce one item at a time, members receive a weekly CSA share filled with seasonal vegetables and farm-grown goods. This model allows farmers to plan, grow, and harvest responsibly while providing members with consistent, high-quality food.
By joining a Halifax CSA, you are supporting:
• Local Nova Scotia agriculture
• Sustainable farming practices
• A family-run farm with deep roots in the community
Members sign up for the season by reserving a CSA share. CSA spots are limited to ensure quality, sustainability, and care for the land.
Throughout the growing season, we grow a wide variety of fresh, seasonal produce on our Nova Scotia family farm.
What we grow is guided by:
• The local climate
• Seasonal availability
• Quality over quantity
Each week reflects what is at its best in the fields at that time.
Members receive a weekly CSA share during the season.
Your share may include a mix of:
• Seasonal vegetables
• Fresh greens
• Root crops
• Farm-grown staples
Contents vary week to week based on what is ready for harvest — this is part of the beauty of eating seasonally.
CSA shares will be available for pickup at locations in Halifax and Bridgewater with specific pickup sites and schedules to be announced closer to the start of the season.
Details will be shared with members in advance of the season.
Joining a CSA is about more than food — it’s about connection.
By joining The Farmer’s Daughter CSA, you are:
• Supporting a multi-generation Nova Scotia farm
• Eating fresh, locally grown food
• Reducing food miles and packaging
• Becoming part of a community that values where food comes from
CSA members often discover new vegetables, try new recipes, and build a deeper appreciation for seasonal eating.
CSA shares are limited.
If you’re interested in joining a CSA that’s rooted in family tradition we invite you to join now.
